JavaScript Job Details

If you've ever used an App to order coffee or food, or pay a bill in a restaurant, you may have been one of the millions of users who use our platform for convenience in ordering, to speed up paying, and to earn rewards. We're a UK based company building the leading mobile hospitality platform, and that means designing and building iOS and Android Apps, management web portals, backend services, e-pos integrations and much more.

We have vacancies for recent graduates (or graduates one or two years out) to join our UK development team as a Junior Developer. You will be attached to the Platform team, so 80% or more of your time will be focused on developing cloud hosted backend services and APIs, and the remainder maintaining and extending Web UX. We will pair you up with one of experienced developers to help you learn the processes and tech stack, and guide you as you start making contributions to our code. This is an ideal role for anyone looking to get a lot of experience quickly.

The Role

This is a highly focused developer role with a heavy emphasis on coding and designing for the cloud.

You will be learning modern cloud tools and technology. At Pepper we rely on the following tools and tech stack:

  • TypeScript as our primary language
  • React as our web framework
  • Nodejs as our server and serverless platform
  • AWS Lambda and Elastic Beanstalk for service hosting
  • Mongo Atlas / Postgres / DynamoDB for storage
  • Codeship for CI/CD
  • Scalyr and NewRelic for monitoring

We use agile processes pragmatically (no scrum), we try and automate everything including QA.

If you like the sound of what we are doing and you're interested in the technology we are using - then please apply!

Who Should Apply

We are looking for graduates who have had experience coding as a hobby or in their coursework, enjoy solving technical challenges, and like to collaborate and share ideas.

In particular you'll need:

  • A great university degree in CS, or STEM subject
  • Fluent spoken English
  • Ideally some experience of TypeScript or JavaScript

Location

All our developers work remotely, but you have the option to work in the office if you want to. You will always find Pepper staff in our London office at Shepherds Bush.
